[New York, NY - July 27, 2012] – Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Miguel announces the three-part release of his highly anticipated sophomore album Kaleidoscope Dream(ByStorm/RCA Records). Fresh from the critical acclaimed release of his Art Dealer Chic Vol. 1-3 EP trilogy, Miguel will break commercial ground with a similarly unveiled set of two digital only EPs ultimately leading to the October 2nd album release. The first release,Kaleidoscope Dream: Water Preview, debuts for digital sale on July 31st and will contain three songs, including the extended version of the infectious “Adorn.” The second release,Kaleidoscope Dream: Air Preview, will also contain three songs which will be available for digital sale on September 11th. The final full-length release of Kaleidoscope Dream will combine both previously released EPs with five additional songs, available at digital and physical retailers everywhere on October 2nd.
Kaleidoscope Dream represents the fantasies Miguel believes are channeled through dreams. “I believe dreams represent the purest form of fantasy we unleash through our subconscious,” he explains. “They represent the truest freedom we can experience. Totally unrepressed and totally creative.”
This past February, March and April, Miguel released an entirely self-produced three-part mini EP series called Art Dealer Chic, with Volume 1, 2, and 3 offered once a month respectively. The dark, deeply emotional and powerful tracks captivated fans and critics alike as Miguel set forth on a fresh musical experiment. The New York Times said “‘Art Dealer Chic’ is better music by far — intense and over modulated in its mellowness, with stronger melodies and stranger, blearier backgrounds,” while Pitchfork proclaimed that theArt Dealer Chic EPs “contain some of the best R&B music of the year… What a breath of fresh air.”
While Miguel’s progressive critically acclaimed 2010 debut album All I Want Is You, which spawned the chart-topping hit singles “Quickie,” “Sure Thing” and the album title track, earned him unanimous praise, Kaleidoscope Dream takes him down a new path of musical exploration with ground breaking, cutting edge precision. The forthcoming album features production from Salaam Remi [Amy Winehouse, Adele], Pop & Oak [Kanye West, Big Sean], and Jerry Wonda [The Fugees, Wyclef Jean], amongst others.
